From Todd Fuller "Wayne Cooper and I had been playing with the PSG Stuttgart (German) Team for a while - Wayne longer than I, I started with them in August 1986. We slowly made contact with other American soldiers that played rugby and brought them over to PSG. Once we had probably 10 American guys regularly coming, we decided in fall 1987 to start up Stuttgart American. Personally I was never aware of any previous iterations of an American Team in Stuttgart. We held practice at Panzer Kaserne and I believe we had one scrimmage that fall against another established American team. I forget where they were from (Wurzburg maybe), but they were led by a guy that was in the leadership of American Rugby in Germany. We ended up tying that match 0-0, it was very muddy and we didn’t have any uniforms, everyone on our side just provided their own rugby jersey and of course the other team was kitted up correctly. "

I was PCS’ing in May of 1987 [maybe 88?] so I let others take over in the spring of 1987 [maybe 88] and to be honest I don’t remember a lot but I thought we went to Strasbourg France to play a match. I do remember Mike Lemanskis.
