First team started in the early 70s by Dave Aldridge who played scrum half and alone on the Japanese base team for several months before starting the first MCAS Iwakuni RFC.  They toured Japan playing matches with many Japanese base teams including the Japanese Naval Academy.  When they took part in the 1992 Military Club Championships, they were called Mamushi RFC
