I didn't start the CCK Lions (Taichung) until spring of 73, who eventually became the Kadena Lions in spring 74. I think when our squadron (345th TAC) was moved to Kadena and the 21st moved to Clark, the Taichung team went "inactive".

CCK Rugby Football Club

There was a team in Taiwan in 1961, 1963-67 and 1968-73, per Tim Connell. He mentioned Richard Juve and Mike Conner as being on the team as well.

The team was re-started in 1972 by Sean Edris, USAF. There was not a team patch as they had no uniforms. Half the guys played in cutoff jeans and the other guys played in football pants without the pads. None of Chinese teams could speak English so Sean's fiance had to translate for game scheduling and referee calls. "Those Taiwanese were some of the toughest sons-a-bitches I'd ever played against."
