Probably not a true USCS match - our head coach was not there and we had a stand in coach, Mike Malone, USMC. Mike states "Chris Shay did the actual coaching for the day or two we had to prepare. We were especially hard up for getting players free for both matches. In fact, we did not have enough forwards able to make the SF match in order to field a full 8-man scrum and could not find any military players from the local rugby community to players to fill in. I wound up borrowing a prop and a flanker from the SFRC for the match.

I remember going to the airport either Friday night or Saturday morning to pick up John Lang and then piling him into my car minutes after the match ended on Sunday, still all muddy, sweaty, and able at least to get out of his boots and into tennis shoes so as to race to the airport in time to make his flight back home in order to be at work on Monday. He boarded the plane in his match gear, minus his USCS jersey and boots."
