Twenty Three players playing for two teams in the elite division of the Las Vegas Invitational Sevens. Two years ago All-Air Force Women’s Rugby did not exist. LTC Andy McQuade decided that had to change, and in 2017 we showed up in Vegas with 16 athletes, some with rugby experience, some with none, and lifted the bar off the ground.

Fast forward to 2019. 23 rugby athletes presented themselves, and after three days of hard work we push the bar forward in our quest for the first ever Armed Forces Women’s Rugby Championship (Cape Fear, July 2019). We’re fielding two full squads in the Women’s Elite Division at the LVI and I have no doubt every one of these athletes will leave it all on the brown-green grass of Las Vegas. Whatever challenges await us around the corner, we will face them. In our quest for excellence we will test ourself against some of the best players in the world.

Through fire, steel is forged. On Thursday these athletes will run headfirst into the fire, and we’ll come out harder and stronger on the other side. I’m so very proud of the efforts every one of these service members put forward, and I’m privileged and honored to be a part of their journey. With no further ado, here they are (numbers indicate jersey, not position). Feel free to tag and share away.
