MCAS Futenma Hellcats Rugby Football Club
(Bob Matthes) We started the MCAS Futenma Hellcats RFC while I was there (spring of 1988) and played US military sides from Kadena AFB and Camp Hansen (USMC). We also travelled to the PI to play Clarke AFB. We had a remarkable group and never lost a match in the fall of 1988 and spring of 1989. We had an Army guy - CAPT Jack White I think; a former New Zealand junior national team prop named Bobby Jeeves (USMC), and a big Marine lock named Pete (last name lost in my memory). Half a dozen or more of our guys made All Marine when they came back to Pendleton. It was quite a group!
In a Feb 1991 communication, Capt Corns relates a record of 93-5 over the 'past three years'.
